The Washington, DC Water For People Committee cordially invites you to join us for our 2nd Annual World Water Day Event on Friday, March 20th at DC’s newest urban restaurant/lounge, Policy! This annual event aims to increase awareness of water, sanitation and hygiene education needs for millions of people lacking these services. An estimated 884 million live without safe drinking water and 2.5 billion lack adequate sanitation around the world. Water For People helps people in developing countries improve their quality of life by supporting the development of locally sustainable drinking water resources, sanitation facilities and health and hygiene education programs.

This year’s guest speaker will be filmmaker Sam Bozzo, whose award winning film Blue Gold: World Water Wars uncovers the grim truth of what is really happening as corporate giants and private investors vie for control of our planet’s dwindling fresh water supply. Based on the ground-breaking book by Maude Barlow and Tony Clarke, Blue Gold – World Water Wars won the Audience Choice Award for the Best Environmental Documentary at the Vancouver International Film Festival and the Best Documentary at the Beloit International Film Festival. The DC Environmental Film Festival will be premiering Blue Gold at the Carnegie Institution on Sunday, March 22nd.

Please join us to support a good cause and help build awareness about the water issues facing our planet today. Admission for this event is $15 and includes complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. A raffle for numerous prizes will also take place.
